CareFest to showcase Texas Country legends

By David H. Waller

Organizers for CareFest have announced the lineup for the seventh annual event, set to take place on August 16. The benefit concert, which raises money for ResourceCare, will feature performances by Kevin Fowler, Stoney LaRue, Jason Boland, Cooder Graw, Carter Peaslee, and Yesterdaze Wine. Peaslee and Yesterdaze Wine lead singer Jared McLane are both past winners of CareFest’s Acoustic Showdown competition.

CareFest supports ResourceCare, a nonprofit organization that provides medical, dental, and behavioral health services to residents across Shackelford, Stephens, Callahan and Taylor counties. Funds raised through CareFest help ResourceCare offer emergency support and health services to individuals and families in need.

Tickets for the music festival go on sale Thursday, May 1 (today). A limited number of VIP tickets will be available at $250 on the first day, with the price adjusting to $300 beginning May 2 until sold out. VIP tickets include access to the indoor VIP barn, beverages, food, air conditioning, and restrooms.

Battle of the Bands and Acoustic Showdown competitions are already underway, giving musicians a chance to earn a spot at CareFest. The Battle of the Bands features six groups competing for an opening act spot, with the contest finale scheduled for May 15 at the Icehouse. The Acoustic Showdown finals will follow on May 16 at Goodnight Steakhouse, with four winning performers earning featured acoustic slots inside the VIP barn at CareFest.

Mindy Ary, CareFest Production Director, emphasized the importance of community support in making CareFest possible each year. She also extended her thanks to Happy Wife Happy Life Weddings & Events Venue for their continued sponsorship.

“We’re grateful for all the businesses and individuals who step up every year to help,” Ary said. “CareFest wouldn’t be possible without their support, and it makes a real difference for ResourceCare and the people they serve.”
