Albany News subscription, ad rates to increase next week
By David H. Waller
For the first time in several years, The Albany News will be updating its subscription and advertising prices. The new rates will go into effect with the next issue, Thursday, August 21, 2025.
From the start, I have believed strongly in keeping our community newspaper affordable and accessible. However, the reality of running a printed publication is that certain costs are beyond our control. A major factor in this decision is the recent increase in printing costs, which have nearly doubled. In order to maintain the quality and consistency our readers expect, we have reached the point where an adjustment is necessary.
This decision was not made lightly. It is simply part of the business of publishing a newspaper. As with any product that relies on materials, labor, and transportation, price changes must occasionally be made to keep pace with expenses. Our goal remains the same: to deliver accurate, timely, and meaningful coverage of Albany and the surrounding area every week.
New subscription rates effective August 21
•Albany & Moran: $60/year
•Texas Addresses: $65/year
•Outside Texas: $70/year
•Digital Only: $50/year
•Digital + Print Combo: Add $15 to print rate
Papers sold in stores will be $2 each starting next week. For Albany and Moran readers who purchase a copy each week, that totals $100 per year. A subscription offers significant savings at $60 per year—a $40 difference—and ensures the paper is delivered directly to your mailbox.
New advertising rates effective August 21
•1/16 Page: B&W $65, Color $125
•1/8 Page: B&W $125, Color $190
•1/4 Page: B&W $185, Color $300
•1/2 Page: B&W $300, Color $435
•Full Page: B&W $560, Color $675
We remain deeply grateful for the support The Albany News has received from the community. This paper belongs to Albany, and it is your readership and advertising support that keeps it alive. While no one enjoys raising prices, we believe this adjustment will allow us to continue producing the hometown paper you rely on—both now and for many years to come.
A complete list of updated prices can be found on the Classifieds page of this week’s issue.
