Fandangle draws more than 3,000 as 87th season concludes

The 87th anniversary of the Fort Griffin Fandangle closed its 2025 season Saturday night, following two weekends of performances at the Prairie Theater that brought in a total of 3,021 ticket holders.

Shows were held June 20–21 and June 27–28, with strong crowds each night. Based on pre-show surveys, more than half of attendees were experiencing the Fandangle for the first time. In addition to visitors from across the state, this year’s audience included international guests from Brazil, South Africa, Scotland, Canada, and Germany.

Director Lorna Ayers said the success of this season was the result of many individuals stepping up to meet challenges.

“This year came with its own unique set of challenges, but people stepped up where there was a need in true community spirit to create a memorable show,” Ayers said.

Fort Griffin Fandangle Association president David Waller also noted the collective effort required to produce the show.

“I couldn’t be prouder of how our cast, crew, and community came together this year,” Waller said. “Putting on a show like this takes countless hours, generous hearts, and a deep love for Albany.”

With the season complete, the Association will shift focus to planning for 2026. A request for proposals related to theater improvements and a new prop barn is expected to be released in the coming month. The capital campaign supporting these long-term projects remains ongoing.

The Fort Griffin Fandangle continues to draw visitors each year through the work of its volunteers and supporters, who bring the outdoor musical to life each summer.
