Tabor completes Air Force basic training

Airman 1st Class Briley Tabor, a 2023 graduate of Albany High School, recently completed Basic Military Training for the United States Air Force. She graduated during ceremonies held August 27–28, 2025, at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

The eight-and-a-half-week program introduces enlistees to military discipline, physical training, and the core values of the U.S. Air Force. Through a demanding schedule of drills, coursework, and team-building exercises, trainees are prepared to serve in the nation’s defense forces and uphold the standards expected of all airmen.

One moment from training stood out. Tabor received hundreds of letters from family, friends, and supporters back home in Albany—so many, in fact, that one day after handing her the sixth letter, her instructor paused and asked, “Tabor, where are you from?” She replied, “Albany, Texas, sir,” to which he responded, “That explains it.” The Albany community’s support during her time at basic training was something she said meant the world to her.

Tabor is now continuing her service with technical training at Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo, where she will receive specialized instruction for her chosen career field. The next phase of her training will equip her with the skills needed to perform her duties and support Air Force operations around the world.
