Scholarships to graduates total $120,000+

Dozens of local scholarships were presented to members of the Albany High School Class of 2021 during commencement exercises held last Friday, May 28.
There were well over 100 separate awards for the class of 35, with some scholarships split among more than one recipient, amounting to more than $120,000.
The awards were given by about 40 local churches, clubs, organizations, foundations and individuals.
The 2021 commencement ceremony was held in the Albany High School gymnasium before a crowd of friends and relatives.
Thirty-five members of the class received their diplomas from AHS principal Glen Hill along with Albany ISD board vice president Kelly Head and counselor Jenny Scott.
Class valedictorian Hannah Trail and salutatorian Sidney Bartee each addressed those attending the event.
Scholarships
Awards totaling $120,300 were given to graduating seniors during the 2021 graduation ceremony, most of that intended for the first year of college or trade school.
The 2021 scholarships were announced as follows:
•The City of Albany - Henry Martin Rockwell Endowment Scholarship - First National Bank Albany/Breckenridge, $5,000 to the Valedictorian Hannah Trail.
•The City of Albany - Henry Martin Rockwell Endowment Scholarship - First National Bank Albany/Breckenridge, $5,000 to the Salutatorian Sidney Bartee.
•City of Albany - Henry Martin Rockwell Endowment Fund - John E. and Nellie K. Carter Scholarships, $2,000 each to Tana Thompson, Morgan Garcia, Elia Hebel, Paige Picquet, Jackson Chapman, Allison Hill, Everett McWhorter, and William Webb.
•Robert Nail Ex-Student Scholarships, $1,500 each to Torie Fuentes and Everett McWhorter.
•Lions Club Scholarship, $1,000 to Sidney Bartee.
•Kiwanis Club Scholarships, $1,750 each to Brady Karl, Amber Leverton, and Anthony Lopez.
•Fandangle Scholarships, $500 each to Hannah Trail, Brodey Jones, Ryder Wilkins, Blanton Belcher, and Sidney Bartee.
•Kevin Ruff Memorial Scholarships administered by the Church of Christ, $500 to Torie Fuentes and Hannah Snyder.
•Xi Chi Pi Scholarships,$1,000 each to Hannah Snyder, Blanton Belcher, Marty Jo Farmer, and Carli Edgar.
•J.B. Montgomery Jr. Memorial Scholarship , $1,000 to Jackson Chapman.
•Mary/Martha Permanent Endowed Scholarship given by the late Marguerite and I.M. Chism, administered by the First Baptist Church, $1,500 to Amber Leverton.
•First Baptist Church Scholarships, $1,500 to Allison Hill and $1,000 to Addie Beth Denton.
•PTO Scholarships, $1,000 each to Blanton Belcher, Ryder Wilkins, and Hannah Snyder.
•Shelley Cleveland Memorial Scholarships, $750 each to Isaiah Dockins and Barrett Beal.
•Bill Webb Memorial Student Fund, Rev. J.A. Owen Scholarship, $400 to the Valedictorian Hannah Trail.
•Bill Webb Memorial Student Fund, Rev. J.A. Owen Scholarship, $200 to the Salutatorian Sidney Bartee.
•Iron-Bars, Inc. Scholarships, administered through the Old Jail Art Center, $500 each to Sidney Bartee and Morgan Garcia.
•AZE Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Scholarship given in memory of Joanna Sullivan, $500 each to Wesley Estridge and Addie Beth Denton and $250 each to Marty Jo Farmer, Blanton Belcher, Brady Karl, and Brodey Jones.
•Albany Study Club Scholarships, $400 each to Addie Beth Denton and Sidney Bartee.
•Alice Edington Memorial Scholarship administered through the First Baptist Church, $1,000 to Tana Thompson.
•John and Carol Huffman Memorial Scholarships, $1,000 each to Everett McWhorter and Torie Fuentes.
•Sam and Ellen Webb Albany Heritage Scholarship, $1,000 to Ryder Wilkins.
•The Feed Store Scholarships, $500 to Hannah Trail, and $300 each to Jackson Chapman, Ryder Wilkins, Torie Fuentes, and Elia Hebel, and $100 each to Cade Neve, Tana Thompson, and Amber Leverton.
•Joe Foran Scholarships, in honor of Jane Hooker, Doris Miller, and Don Fitzgibbons, $750 each (given the next three years if students maintain a B average) to Tana Thompson and Jackson Chapman.
•Billy Wayne Boland & Son Memorial Scholarship administered through the First Baptist Church, $500 each to Allison Hill, Marty Jo Farmer, and Blanton Belcher.
•Turner/Williams Memorial Scholarship given by the Lower Clear Fork of the Brazos, $1,000 each to Blanton Belcher, Morgan Garcia, Jackson Chapman, and Brady Karl.
•Masonic Lodge Scholarships, $1,000 each to Jackson Chapman, Addie Beth Denton, Torie Fuentes, and Brady Karl.
•Loren and Betty Williams Scholarship given through First Christian Church, $1,000 to Ryder Wilkins.
•Sedwick/Rockwell Nursing Scholarship given through First National Bank, $500 to Landree Connally.
• The Resource Care Summer Day Camp Scholarship in the amount of $500 to Torie Fuentes.
•Garcia Memorial Scholarship, $500 to Morgan Garcia.
•Lioness Club Scholarship, $500 to Blanton Belcher
•Albany Softball Association Scholarships, $300 each to Blanton Belcher, Torie Fuentes, and Elia Hebel.
•Doug Neece Scholarships, $1.000 each to Jackon Chapman and Torie Fuentes.
•The Keith and Steve Carlile Memorial Scholarship, $250 to Barrett Beal.
