The Lady Lions broke their losing streak with a win over TLC Abilene last week, also picking up the first district win for the season.
Albany hosted Haskell on Dec. 31, falling 60-25, but picked up a 37-23 win over TLCA on Jan. 3 in Abilene.
The girls hosted the 18-2 Cisco girls on Tuesday in a district game, falling to the Lady Loboes 66-17 to post a season mark of 4-15 including 1-4 in district.
The Lady Lions will travel to Anson on Friday for 6:00 p.m. game against the Lady Tigers, who are 0-13 for the season after a loss to Hawley on Tuesday.
Albany will travel to Hawley on Tuesday, Jan. 14, to start the second round of district play.
The girls got off to a slow start against Haskell last week, trailing 18-2 at the end of the first quarter and 28-7 at the half. Albany fought back with a 15-8 loss in the third period and 17-10 in the fourth.
“We actually adjusted well after the first half,” said coach Ashlyn Bevel. “Haskell loves to press, and we found a way to stop that and play a much better second half.”
The Lady Lions got their first district win at TLCA last Friday, but not without another slow start.
“We again started slow, but came along in the third quarter to pull ahead by 10 points,” Bevel said. “We got the win, and it is always good to get a district win even if it wasn’t our best.”
