Membership letters for the Fort Griffin Fandangle Association will be mailed out tomorrow, March 1, according to marketing director Rebecca Bridges.

The National Weather Service (NWS) encourages all residents, businesses and schools across West Central Texas to practice a tornado drill on Wednesday, March 6 at 10:00 a.m. or at a time that is more convenient.

Sixteen Albany students are travelling to Stamford for an academic invitational practice meet this Saturday, Feb. 23, and according to UIL coordinator Rick Davis, they could bring home several ribbons even though scheduling conflicts limited the number of students who could participate.

Jaymie Rae Gintert and Lawrence Mason McDonald were united in marriage on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019 at the Springs Event Venue in Angleton, Texas.  The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Gintert of Pearland, Texas. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W.D.

The Fandangle board of directors, including newly elected member Henry Musselman, met on Feb. 12, and plans for this year’s production are underway, although rehearsals will not begin until after spring break.

Registration forms for T-Ball, Coach Pitch, and Little League are available at local schools, and the signup deadline is next Thursday, Feb. 28. Players that will be eight years old or older on Aug. 31, 2019 need to attend the Feb.

Moran High School student JT Holland placed fifth in class 35 medium weight European cross steers at the Fort Worth Livestock Show earlier this month, earning a spot in the exhibition’s Sale of Champions.

Two new exhibitions open Tuesday, Feb. 26, at the Old Jail Art Center and will remain on display at the local museum until May 18.  OJAC members who sent in their RSVP before the Feb. 18 deadline will be able to attend the artist’s reception and special members’ opening event this Saturday, Feb.

A unanimous vote by the Albany ISD board of trustees named the football field at Robert Nail Stadium “Faith Field,” surprising longtime Albany coach Denney Faith with the honor near the end of Monday’s regular meeting.

Several new directors were elected to the Albany Chamber of Commerce board at the organization’s annual membership meeting on Feb. 8. Local residents who are new to the board are Chris Beard, Megaen Birdwell, Susan Montgomery, Jonathan Scott, Clayton Snyder, and Tracy Sullivan.
