Date sought for Powder Puff game

Due to wet field conditions, the annual Powder Puff football game scheduled for last Sunday was cancelled. Hopefully, a new date will be set, according to Tisha Wilkins, Feed Store director.

Closet Angels lists several needs

Lori Reames, director of Closet Angels and The Local Exchange, announced that the ministries will not be open Saturday, May 11 for Second Saturday due to staffing issues. Reames said Closet Angels will be open for regular hours on Monday, May 13 with a $100 drawing planned for high school shoppers at the end of the day.

NSES students place in state contests

Several Albany fourth and fifth graders learned this week that they placed at the state level in competition sponsored by the Texas Math and Science Coaches Association (TMSCA). Contests for third through fifth graders are held completely online, with the results received earlier this week, according to Nancy Smith ElementarySchoolteacher Kelli Kreitler, who helped sponsor the students.

Car show re-set for May 18

Plans are once again being finalized for the annual Albany Classic Car Show, rescheduled from its original April 20 date because of the weather. Organizer Robert Snyder is optimistic that next week’s new time will bring plenty of car owners and spectators to town.

Fandangle practices set

The call has been issued for members of the community who would like to participate in the cast of the Fort Griffin Fandangle to begin rehearsals starting Monday, May 13 at the Prairie Theater. Practices for the four summer performances of the Fort Griffin Fandangle will start on Monday, but cast members are urged to view the rehearsal schedule found online.

Veterans names needed soon

Persons interested in adding the name of a veteran toaadditionalmarker to be set on the courthouse square next to other monuments can do so for free if information is provided by May 15. The project is headed by Mary Kay O’Connor, who explained that two new monument stones have been ordered and paid for by donations.
