Leverton listed as honor student

Albany High School junior Amber Leverton was inadvertently left off the list of honor students provided by Albany ISD two weeks ago.  AHS counselor Jenny Scott said on Tuesday that Leverton is among students with a GPA of 90 or above and should have been included in the list of academic honors.

Couple celebrates 70th wedding anniversary

The family of Elgin Ray (Punk) Jones and Mary Belle (Steddum) Jones proudly announce their 70th wedding anniversary. Punk and Mary Belle were reared in Shackelford County. They met in 1940 when the Jones family moved to Albany, Texas next door to the Steddum family.

MHS seniors graduate

By Lynsi Musselman Moran Independent School District superintendent Danny Freeman and school board member Sug Roller presented diplomas to seven seniors at Friday evening’s commencement exercises. Graduates and eight family members per student were in attendance at the ceremony.

Moran city fire department receives new brush truck

By Lynsi Musselman The Moran City Volunteer Fire Department received a new fire brush truck from the Texas Forest Service on Monday. Moran currently has one fire engine used to respond to house fires, vehicle crashes, and grass fires that can be reached from the road.
