There was a flurry of applicants filing for the Shackelford County Hospital Board before last week’s deadline, with a total of seven names to be on the ballot – six for the three two-year positions and one for an unexpired term.
There also ended up being four candidates for the Moran ISD board of trustees, with two seats available.

Disciplinary action issued by the hospital board on a split vote in November was rescinded, also with a split vote, during Monday’s meeting of the Shackelford County Hospital District directors.
Board president Jason Price referred the agenda discussion to Jo Ann Estridge, commenting that she had requested that the item to “Rescind/Uphold Mateo Millan’s Verbal Disciplinary Action 11/18/24” be placed on last night’s agenda.

A strange event happened at Fort Griffin in Albany Texas Friday evening. Campers reported seeing strange lights appear in the sky. The next day the workers at the fort reported seeing footprints in front of the park.

The Albany Lions boys basketball team extended its season Monday, Feb. 17 with a 46-33 victory over Petrolia in a Class 2A Division II bi-district playoff at Graham.
The Lions (14-8) advance to the area round later this week to face the Graford Jackrabbits, who won against Crawford on Tuesday night. Albany coach Ryder Peacock said the area game will be played Friday, Feb. 21 at 7p.m. in Eastland’s Marshall Gymnasium. Ticket information was still being worked out at press time.
