7 on 7 team qualifies for state tourney

By Donnie A. Lucas Albany’s 7on7 football team qualified for the state tournament last Friday at McMurry University. The Lions defeated Merkel 13-7 in the D3 championship game to advance to the state tournament set for June 24-26 in College Station.

Boys join conditioning program

By Donnie A. Lucas Summer conditioning, along with limited sport-specific training for junior high and high school aged students, is underway and will continue for several more weeks.

All-Stars play here Saturday

By Donnie A. Lucas The Albany Little League will host tournament games for the District 5 All-Stars beginning on Saturday. Both the Albany 12U and 10U All-Stars will play on Saturday, with the 10U starting the action at 9:00 a.m. The 12U team will play at 11:00 a.m.

By Donnie A. Lucas The Reds Little League 12U team, or majors, played to the final round of the County Tournament of District 5, winning the Rural Community County title and playing Abilene Dixie for the overall championship last week.
