Johnny Ray Holson, 87, of Albany, passed away Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at First Christian Church in Albany. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 3, at Albany Cemetery under the direction of Girdner Funeral Home of Abilene.

Johnny was born in Mena, Arkansas, to Lucille and Herman Holson. He was baptized in a creek by a Baptist preacher and attended Rocky School and Mena High School.

Martha Lenamon of Shongaloo, Louisiana, passed away following a courageous four-year battle with bone cancer. She lived more than 20 years as a breast cancer survivor, showing remarkable strength and resilience throughout her life.

Kathy Hobbs, 75, of Albany, Texas, passed away September 12th, 2025 at Hendrick Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 am Friday September 19th, at Matthews Memorial Presbyterian Church, 211 South Jacobs Street in Albany Texas. A reception will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.

Mary Cloud

Mary Cloud, 87 of Albany, passed away Saturday, July 12, 2025. Graveside funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 16th at the Albany Cemetery with Lance Thomas officiating. Interment followed under the direction of Morehart Mortuary.

Alfred Whitby George passed away on July 9, 2025, at his home in Albany, TX. His memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 23 at 11:00am at the First Christian Church in Albany, followed by burial at the Albany Cemetery. 

Jon Matthew Birkla, 68, passed away July 1, 2025. 

Memorial service will be 10am Friday, July 11, 2025 at the Albany Cemetery Pavilion. 

Jon (Matt) Matthew Birkla ,68, passed away in Abilene, TX on July 1, 2025.

Matt was born January 9, 1957 in Mt. Carmel, Illinois to Calvin George Birkla and Ola (Pat) Creciann Birkla.  Matt’s family moved around and settle in Pecos, Tx. Matt attended Pecos schools.

Michael “Mike” Gerald Folsom,  of Albany, Texas, passed away on June 24, 2025, at the age of 60. Born on June 22, 1965, he was a devoted father, Boppy and friend whose generosity and skills enriched the lives of many.

He is survived by his two daughters, Katelyn Blanton and her fiancé JonMichael Blake, and Michaela Bradford and her husband Troy Bradford. He was a proud Boppy to Braxton Blanton, Presley Blanton, Skylar Blanton, Silas Bradford, and Wesley Bradford. He will also be missed by a circle of close friends who stood by him throughout his life.

Jim Tom Butler, 87 of Albany, Texas and formerly of Crane, Texas passed away Thursday June 26, 2025. A Memorial service was at 1:00 P.M, July 1, 2025, at Albany Methodist Church in Albany, Texas with Pastor Tim Trimble officiating.

Jim Tom Butler was born on September 13, 1937, in Albany, Texas, Shackelford County to Hattie E. Butler and Leroy A. (Buddy) Butler. He had one brother, Billy Irl Butler.

Sonja Brake

Sonja Elizabeth Lewis Brake, 59 of Albany, Texas, passed away on June 20, 2025. She was born on August 11, 1965, in Arlington, Texas, to Tryon Temple Lewis and Patricia Maurine Keesee. Sonja was baptized at Wilmeth Baptist Church and was a member of First Baptist Church in Clyde, Texas.

Bobbie LaNell Cox, age 77, of Albany, Texas, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2025, at Hendrick Hospice Care in Abilene, Texas. A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 26, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Albany Cemetery pavilion.
