By Donnie A Lucas The 2020 volleyball is in the midst of an abrupt “time-out” after several members of the varsity squad tested positive for the COVID-19 coronavirus late last week, forcing the school to place the varsity and two coaches in quarantine.

Jr. high teams back in action

By Donnie A. Lucas After taking an unexpected week-long break, both the Cubs football teams and the Lady Cubs volleyball squads are returning to action. The junior high football teams will both be on the road on Thursday (today) for games, with the seventh graders going to Eastland for a 5:00 p.m.

Lady Lions undefeated in district play

By Donnie A. Lucas The Lady Lion volleyball team split games last week, but the game they won was critically important. Albany lost in three sets to the visiting 4A Graham Lady Blue, but defeated district rival Hawley in four sets on Saturday to lead the 2A bracket of District 6-2A.

JV Lions undefeated at 3-0

By Donnie A. Lucas The JV Lion football team improved to 3-0 for the season with a 28-0 shutout of the Haskell Indians last Thursday in their first home game of the season. The JV will host Anson this Thursday (today) at about 6:30 p.m.

Cubs to host Anson today for 2 games

By Donnie A. Lucas The eighth grade Cubs posted a 46-0 win over Haskell last Thursday in the first home game of the season. The seventh grade got to scrimmage for one quarter against Haskell’s combined team, since the Indians didn’t have a separate seventh grade team to put on the field.

Jr. high girls to host Ranger

By Donnie A. Lucas The seventh grade volleyball team traveled to Hico on Monday, earning a win in two sets. The eighth grade girls played Tuesday evening at Rising Star, but results of the game were not available at press time.

Bulldogs to play in Lingleville

By Lynsi Musselman The Moran Bulldogs suffered another loss against non-conference Blackwell on Friday, Sept. 18. The Bulldogs scored 16 points in the first quarter to start the game but ended up losing 16-64. Moran is on the road this Friday, Sept. 25 against Lingleville at 7:30 p.m.
