“I am super excited for this group of young ladies,” said coach Jo Hise. “They are the first Moran team that I am aware of to advance to regional. They have come so far since the beginning of the season and are even more confident in themselves.”

Hise added that “they are a joy to coach.”

Runners medal at district

By Melinda L. Lucas

Although none of Albany High School’s cross country runners were eligible to advance to the regional meet, two local runners medalled at last week’s district competition.

Only those who compete at the varsity level can advance, and Albany had no entries in either boys or girls varsity divisions.

Freshman Brylee Moore earned the JV girls’ blue ribbon, recording a time of 15:27 for the two-mile course.

Also included in the elite medalist group is eighth grader Lute Wheeler, who came in fifth among all junior high boys at district.
