Field dedication, video planned

A couple of special projects are in the works to honor Albany football coach Denney Faith, including the dedication of “Faith Field” at Robert Nail Memorial Stadium at 7:15 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 6 prior to the first varsity home game. More details will be available next week.

Lions outscore Coleman in first scrimmage

By Donnie A. Lucas The 2019 Lion football team got the first taste of “live” action during a scrimmage last Friday in Coleman. Albany will host the Anson Tigers for a second and final scrimmage on Thursday (today) starting at 6:00 p.m. with the junior varsity.

Lady Bulldogs win season opener

3 Lions named to all-state team

By Donnie A. Lucas Three Albany baseball players have been recognized with spots on the Class 2A all-state baseball team by the Texas Sports Writers Association. Cade Neve, who was a sophomore last spring, was named to the third team all-state as a pitcher.

Hamburger supper set Aug. 12

By Kathy Thomson Albany sports fans are invited to attend the Athletic Booster Club’s annual hamburger supper next Monday, Aug. 12 at 6:00 p.m. in the Bank Park.  “Everybody is welcome; it’s a community event,” said Booster secretary Tisha Wilkins. “The ice cream is free! The hamburger meal is $7.
