Tennis players compete well at regionals

All five of Albany’s young tennis players were eliminated at the regional tournament last week, although a singles player made it to the semifinals, and the local boys doubles team made it to the second round.

Albany advances 15 to regional track meet

The boys and girls track teams both advanced two relays and several individuals to the Region I meet by placing in the top four positions at the area track meet last Wednesday, April 10 in Mertzon.

Lions pick up district no-hitter

The Albany High School baseball team picked up a 15-0 win in a no-hitter in Hamlin last week as the Lions prepared for their final round of district games.

Friday game moved to next Tuesday

The Lady Lion softball team continues to fall to the 2A teams in their district, losing to Hawley at home on Tuesday, 9-7 to finish in fourth place in their bracket of the playoffs. The regular season schedule will end next Tuesday in Eula against Lady Pirates at 5:00 p.m.

6 players earn post-season honors

Six Albany basketball players have been named to positions on the All-Big Country Basketball teams for Class 2A, along with a local coach being recognized as Coach of the Year.

Lapp, Hise qualify for regional

Kobee Lapp earned gold at the area track meet in Dublin on Monday in the triple jump with a distance of 42 feet six inches, outdistancing both his nearest rival at area by over a foot, and his own winning jump at district by almost three feet to advance to regional competition.

MHS athletes advance

Several Moran tracksters, including members of three relay teams, and triple jump gold medalist Kobee Lapp qualified for the 1-A area track meet at the District 20-A meet in Dublin last Wednesday in spite of the blustery weather.

Track teams take 20 athletes to area meet

A total of 20 Albany tracksters qualified for the area meet in 18 events, helping the boys place second and the girls third at the District 8-2A Track and Field Meet held last Thursday here in Albany. The top four places in each district event moved on to the area meet held yesterday in Mertzon.

Longball fundraiser set Friday

The Lion baseball team was edged out by a walk-off run on an error last Friday to drop their second district game against Haskell. Albany was on the road Tuesday in Hamlin, bringing back a 15-0 win against the 1A Pipers.

Lady Lions to be at home next 2 games

The Lady Lion softball team split games last week against a couple of the 1A members of the district, as the second round of league action got started. Albany traveled to Stamford on Tuesday, bringing back a 7-0 loss.
