The Albany Golf Club has a full field signed up for its Father’s Day Tournament, but is still accepting entries for a waiting list. The three-person scramble is scheduled for Saturday-Sunday, June 15-16 at the Albany Golf Course.

Seven Albany High School graduates will make one more appearance as high school athletes duringthe2024Big Country FCA All-Star Festival. The festival – which started Wednesday, June 5 and runs through Saturday, June 15 – features more than 350 of the area’s top studentathletes competing in six sports in three cities.

Albany’s Ace Townson finished eighth in boys breakaway roping last week at the Texas Junior High Rodeo Association State Finals, held May 25June 1 at J.B. Wells Arena in Gonzales.

Albany finished fourth Saturday, June 1 in the B Bracket of the Texas West District 5 8U machinepitch tournament at the Albany Little League complex. Albany, which finished 1-2 in the tournament, lost in the first round 14-3 to Jim Ned, beat Breckenridge 9-4 in an elimination game, then lost 12-2 to Abilene Legacy.

The Albany Little League IndianswontheMinorsCounty bracket last week in the Texas West Little League District 5 tournament to reach the championship round as three local teams advanced in their brackets. Albany finished fourth in the Junior League division, while the Reds were eliminated from the Majors County bracket in the second round.
