By Sandy Morris The Albany Athletic Booster Club is making plans for upcoming fundraisers during the month of March. AABC will host the concession stand for three upcoming track meets scheduled in Albany.

By Donnie A. Lucas The Lion basketball team’s season came to an end last Tuesday with area-round playoff loss to the Lipan Indians, 75-46. Albany finished the season in second place in District 10-2A and defeated Petrolia in the bi-district game, 57-55.

By Sandy Morris Albany High School senior athlete Wesley Estridge has powered his way to the top of Region 6, Division 3 Single Heavy Weight Powerlifting, and is set to compete in Alvord on Friday, March 12.

By Sandy Morris Last week was National FFA Week, and members of the Moran High School FFA hosted a hamburger lunch last Wednesday, Feb. 24. The officers sent out letters inviting local farmers to the meal in appreciation for the work they do in the community.

Gerald Dean Braddy passed peacefully on Feb. 20, 2021. A viewing and celebration of his life was held at the First Christian Church of Albany, Tx on Mar. 1. Graveside services followed under the direction of Girdner Funeral Home of Abilene, Tx.  Gerald was born Feb.

By Sandy Morris The Old Jail Art Center  will open two new exhibitions to the public starting Saturday, Feb. 27 and running through Saturday, May 22. No public opening is planned because of COVID precautions and limited hours of operation.

By Melinda L. Lucas Close to 93 percent of the 2020 tax levy had been collected as of Jan. 31, according to chief appraiser Clayton Snyder at the Shackelford County Central Appraisal District (CAD) office, with eligible payments coming in for another week or so at the beginning of February.
