By Melinda L. Lucas The Albany High School varsity tennis team earned a clean sweep of champions at the district tournament, advancing nine players to the regional meet later this month in all five divisions.

By Melinda L. Lucas Several Albany High School tennis players performed well in the Seymour Invitational Tournament last week, returning home with two consolation championships in the boys division and the top two spots in girls singles. “Wind was a huge factor on day one,” said coach Sara Wilson.

By Donnie A. Lucas The Lady Lion softball team earned a pair of wins last week in Cisco and Gorman, maintaining a three-way tie for first place in district with a 4-1 record.

By Donnie A. Lucas A total of 17 members of the Lion and Lady Lion track teams qualified to advance to the area track meet next week in 16 events, including four relays.

By Sandy Morris The Moran varsity track team members competed at the Paint Rock Indian Relays on Friday, March 26.  The next meet will be the District 13A meet on April 9 at May High School.

By Donnie A. Lucas The Lady Lion softball team split games last week, suffering the first district loss in Eula on Friday but getting back in the win column earlier this week. The Lady Lions traveled to Cisco on Tuesday, bringing back a big 11-4 win to advance to a 9-9 record for the season.

By Donnie A. Lucas All four of the junior high track teams fared well at the District 10-2A meet last Saturday in Hamlin, with the eighth grade boys winning their division. The eighth grade boys scored a total of 160.3 points for first place.
