Jr. track teams open season

By Donnie A. Lucas The junior high track teams opened the season last Tuesday, March 2 in Breckenridge, followed by competing in the Albany meet on Monday. Coach M.J. Reneau said that the Breckenridge meet was a good beginning for the eighth grade.

Local baseball tournament cancelled

By Donnie A. Lucas The Lady Lions softball team had a full week of games last week, playing six bouts including five at the Clifton tournament on Friday and Saturday. Albany opened district competition this week, with a Tuesday game against Gorman. The Lady Lions won the contest 18-1.

Track teams compete in Anson

By Donnie A. Lucas The Lion and Lady Lion track teams competed in the Anson Tiger Relays last Thursday, earning a number of ribbons and medals. The Albany track teams will be on the road this week to a meet in Hamlin on Saturday, March 13.

Lady Lions gain valuable experience

Lions lose to Lipan in area basketball playoff

By Donnie A. Lucas The Lion basketball team’s season came to an end last Tuesday with area-round playoff loss to the Lipan Indians, 75-46. Albany finished the season in second place in District 10-2A and defeated Petrolia in the bi-district game, 57-55.
