JOHN WATSON

On May 8, 2022, John Robert Watson, age 86, peacefully went to be with the Lord at his home in Holly Lake Ranch, with his children by his side. A graveside service was held Wednesday, May 18 at the Albany Cemetery.

John was born Jan. 9, 1936 in Cisco, Texas to Andrew and Leona Watson. He grew up in Albany, Texas and later attended Abilene Christian College, now Abilene Christian University. He was a Grand Purple Member of the Presidents Circle for the alumni since 1981.

Alice (Wylie) and Prosper Walker

Alice Ruth (Wylie) Walker, born and raised in Albany, Texas, passed away in Belton, Texas, on Sunday, March 20, 2022, at the age of 87. Her husband of 65 years, Prosper Walker, born and raised in neighboring Moran, Texas, followed her to glory on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at the age of 90.

Prop and Alice met at a swimming pool in Albany, Texas, where Alice was serving as a lifeguard. Prop recalls hitting her with a tennis ball, and it was love at first sight. They were married on Sept. 22, 1956, at Matthews Presbyterian Church in Albany, Texas.

WAYNE TAGGART

Harold Wayne Taggart passed away on Apr. 23, 2022, in a Galveston hospital.  A private memorial will be held by the family at a later date.

Wayne was born Oct. 4, 1938 in Toronto, Ohio to Harold and Nellie Taggart.  He graduated from Toronto High School in 1956.

After graduation, Wayne joined the Air Force where he served four years.  He was a Crew Chief for Dyess Air Force Base.

PATRICIA NEWMAN

Patricia Newman, age 79 of Abilene, passed away Thursday, Apr. 28, 2022. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 5 in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene with Jeff Pleasant officiating. Services have been entrusted to Morehart Mortuary.

Patricia Gayle Patterson was born Dec. 2, 1942 in Los Angeles, California to Guy Patterson and Pauline Ash Patterson. She grew up in Albany and attended First Baptist Church as a child.

SANDRA WARREN

Sandra Janette Warren, 77, of Gorman, Texas, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Monday, Apr. 18, 2022, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Wichita Falls, Texas, after a long and hard-fought illness.

Sandy was born in Gorman on July 17, 1944 to Frank and Clara Midkiff of Moran, Texas. Sandy attended all 12 years of school at Moran where she made lifelong friends.

BILL BOOKER

William “Bill” Edward Booker, respected and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend died on April 18, 2022. He was surrounded by family at his home.

BOBBIE MAYFIELD

Bobbie Mayfield, 92, of Abilene, passed away on April 12, 2022 in Abilene.

Graveside services were held Friday, April 15 at Elmwood Memorial Park. Services were under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.

Bobbie was born in Jones County to Jody and Bessie Proffitt on March 9, 1930. She went all through school and graduated from Anson. She married Robert Mayfield on Sept. 3, 1948 in Anson.

BILL J. TERRY

 

Bill Terry, age 91, passed away peacefully, at his home, with wife Lee and family by his side, on March 30, 2022.

Bill Terry was born September 3,1930 in Groveton, TX to Ernest and Mary Terry. The third son of four boys Bill graduated from Groveton high school and later Sam Houston State University after serving in the US Air Force. He married Alberta (Lee) Ruhlman of Laredo Texas on June 6, 1952 while stationed in Laredo. Bill and Lee had four children, two sons and two daughters, who survive him.

MARZA WHITE

Marza Emogene Boyett White passed away at the age of 98 on Mar. 24, 2022. Marza was born Nov. 20, 1923, to Jasper Zant Boyett and Elpha Brown Boyett in the community of Ibex in Stephens County, Texas.

A graveside service is planned for May 14 in the Albany Cemetery, tentatively set for 10:00 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life.

She attended public schools in Ibex, Moran, and Breckenridge, graduating in 1941. She married J.C. White in June of 1951 and worked in the operation of J.C. White Tank Company for twenty years.

Violet “Vi” Newman

Violet “Vi” Newman was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. She left this world suddenly on March 9, 2022 in Hawley, Texas.

She was born to Edgar and Melinda Hudson on March 7, 1937 in Kent, Margate England. She was the eleventh child out of twelve. She came to the USA on May 17, 1956.
