Project Graduation will hold its third fundraiser of the spring Sunday, March 3 with plate lunches available at The Feed Store. Service will begin at 11:15 a.m.
♦ The public is invited to a local performance of “Oz” on Monday, March 4 at the high school auditorium, as local students prepare for one-act play competition later in the week. The curtain will go up at 7:00 p.m.
Several FCCLA members will compete at the Regional Leadership Conference in Waco Friday and Saturday, March 1-2, including two Parlimentary Procedureteamsanda couple of other individuals and pairs. The Level 1 Parliamentarian Procedure team, which is all eighth graders, is scheduled to compete at 10:00 a.m.
After being delayed by scheduling conflicts, Albany’s Cub Scout Pack 255 will hold its annual Pinewood Derby at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 3 at the Scout Hut.
Those interested in attending the adult education program on cowcalf management being offered by Shackelford and Throckmorton county extension services have until noon, Friday, March 1 to RSVP. Albany FFAand county 4-H students remained busy last week, exhibiting swine and cattle at the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. Albany FFA’s top placing for the week came in Wave 2, where Kenzie Neve placed seventh with her Black Cross steer.
March 11 hearing set to finalize road restrictions CountyjudgeJohnViertel reported at Monday’s regular meeting of the Shackelford County commissioners that the Courthouse elevator, which has been out of service for months, had finally been repaired, although a “burning smell” had been detected in the lower hall and in the elevator that morning. The judge had already contacted Home Elevators to check on the source of the smell.
Early voting started on Tuesday for the March 5 primary elections, with 26 showing up at the Courthouse first floor lobby on the first day to mark their ballots. In-person early voting will continue at the Courthouse through Friday, March 1.
Only two of the six local entities located within the county will hold elections on May 4, with the other four entities either already cancelling or planning to cancel elections because there were no contested races. The filing period for each of the local races ended Friday, Feb.
