Roads closed to truck traffic
A decision to close several precinct 4 roads to truck traffic and an update to a previous declaration regarding illegal immigrationwerepassed during Monday’s meeting of the Shackelford County commissioners.
Early voting to get underway Feb. 20
In-person early voting for the March 1 primary elections starts Tuesday, Feb. 20 and continues until Friday, March 1, and Shackelford County voters shouldn’t have a reason not to cast ballots, as local voting hours take a huge jump in compliance with changes in state law.
4-H’ers compete at San Antonio
Shackelford County 4-H membersenjoyedasuccessful trip Monday, Feb. 12 to San Antonio to compete in HorseSkillathonandhorse judging at the San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo.
OJAC to celebrate Lunar New Year
Even with part of the Old Jail Art Center stll closed to finish renovations, families will be welcomed into the sculpture courtyeard and the Stasney Center on Saturday, Feb. 10 for a three-hour celebration of the Lunar New Year.

Drawings set Feb. 14

Fandangle Assn. hopes to finish theater updates
Directors of the Fort Griffin Fandangle Association have announced a new campaign to raise an additional $300,000 to completetherenovationsneeded at the Prairie Theater. The Fandangle raised $884,750 prior to last summer’s performancetofundmajor projects such as reconstructing theaudienceseatingarea,along withreplacingthesoundsystem and restoring the calliope.
MHS ag students compete
Moran FFA students began participating in the SanAngeloLivestockShow this week with the ag mechanics contest. Caleb York placed fifth in his class with an entry gate.
Moran realignment reduces travel
The good news for Moran from last week’s UIL realignment announcement is Bulldog and Lady Bulldog teams won’t have far to travel for district contests in football, volleyball, and basketball. The University Interscholastic League announced its biennial realignment for the three sports on Thursday, Feb.

With the official reopening of the Old Jail Art Center next Tuesday, Feb. 13 after a few weeks of renovations, the OJAC staff is looking for “a little love.” Visitors can show their love with special hearts to leave in the newly refreshed galleries from Feb.
