Albany’s Will LeMay won the Texas High School Rodeo Association trap shooting title for the second year in a row Saturday, June8aspartoftheTHSRA State Finals Rodeo being held in Abilene. LeMay,whojustfinished his junior year at Albany High School, busted 190 of 200 clay targets in two rounds of competition at Baird’s Callahan County Shooting Range.

Quilt loans needed soon for show

The annual quilt show sponsored by the Albany Study Club is coming up soon. Quilts need to be taken to the Shackelford County Library so that they can be sorted and prepared for display at the Whitney Theatre during Fandangle, the last two weekends in June.

Weather delays mosquito fogging

Albany water plant supervisor Michael Graham said this week that weather conditions have prevented city workers from spraying for mosquitoes so far this season. “Humidity and temperature levels must change before spraying begins,” Graham said.

Turnout good for annual cleanup

Albany’s Team Greaseworms recently completed the Nail Ranch Buffalo RunAdventureChallenge. Participating in the annual event for the fourth year, Greaseworms finished with no mechanical failures and had a fun and rewarding trip along the way.

Travel funds raised for FCCLA qualifiers

A group of eight students and their sponsor will travel to Seattle in a couple of weeks for the FCCLA National Conference after qualifying to compete in a pair of video contests. Only the top 15 entries among the online contests are chosen to advance to the national competition from across the country.
