Albany’s Will LeMay won the Texas High School Rodeo Association trap shooting title for the second year in a row Saturday, June8aspartoftheTHSRA State Finals Rodeo being held in Abilene.

The annual quilt show sponsored by the Albany Study Club is coming up soon. Quilts need to be taken to the Shackelford County Library so that they can be sorted and prepared for display at the Whitney Theatre during Fandangle, the last two weekends in June.

Albany water plant supervisor Michael Graham said this week that weather conditions have prevented city workers from spraying for mosquitoes so far this season. “Humidity and temperature levels must change before spraying begins,” Graham said.

A group of eight students and their sponsor will travel to Seattle in a couple of weeks for the FCCLA National Conference after qualifying to compete in a pair of video contests.

The annual Fandangle Parade is just over a week away, and organizers are seeking entries to make the event a success. Judging will be held in six categories with cash prizes awarded to winners, according to parade co-chairman Megaen Birdwell.
